About This Chapter

Active since 1976, Knights Racing is one group that consist of two separate teams: Formula and Baja. Both Formula and Baja teams design and build a purpose-built vehicle every year to withstand the tests of competitions held against other chapters. The University of Central Florida previously held Baja SAE’s water competitions where each car was equipped with flotation devices up until their removal in the early 2000’s.

COLLEGIATE DESIGN SERIES TEAMS

Baja

Baja International has been an active engineering club at the University of Central Florida since 1976. Each year we design and build a new single seat offroad racecar from scratch to compete at nationwide competitions against teams from around the world. Competition consists of several dynamic and static events across four days to judge the design and cost choices the team made as well as testing the physical performance of the vehicle.

Formula IC

Knights Racing Formula aims to utilize techniques and processes found in multiple disciplines of engineering each year.  They aim to teach members how to apply what they learn in the classroom to a real-world engineering problem. The team competes in annual competitions to test their results and reflect on changes that could be made in the future to improve and optimize the car’s potential.

They hope to collect and transfer this knowledge so that Knights Racing can continue to reach their yearly goals and continue to learn. Students can then use this knowledge and real-world experience in their future as engineers, giving them a leg up compared to their peers, and ultimately begin a successful career.
