Formula SAE Driver Training Boot Camp (IN-PERSON)

Teams will gather at Bushnell Motorsports Park for a morning of workshops, followed by an afternoon of applying what they’ve learned through vehicle testing. The top three performing teams will be awarded with prizes at the end of the day. Lunch will be provided.

Workshop Topics:

• Racing 101: The Basics of Motorsports Engineering (physics of a race car, vehicle dynamics, racing lines)
• Trimming Time without Cutting Corners (set-up adjustments, vehicle stability, sorting through data, isolating performance from real-life variables, evolving tire models, adaptive driving style, correlations between simulated and real-life data)
• Best Practices in Motorsport Electronics (best wiring practices, successful sensor integration, top tooling, product development cycle example)

Event prizes:

• First Place: Trophy, medal, 12-month membership to iRacing, Fanatec CSL DD 5Nm wheel base + Mclaren GT3 V2 wheel
• Second Place: Trophy, medal, 12-month membership to iRacing, Fanatec CSL Elite V2 pedals
• Third Place: Trophy, medal, 12-month membership to iRacing, Next Level Racing F-GT Lite rig

Each team that registers will receive a registration goody bag with SAE swag. 

There will also be other prizes for various accomplishments given throughout the event.

All participating members must be current paid members of SAE International.

Team participation in the virtual event on February 3rd is REQUIRED to qualify for the $75 team registration price. Teams that did not participate in the virtual event must purchase the $150 team registration price.
